An idea that popped into my head while I was doing a cartoon. A riff, of course, on Brian Bolland’s cover for one of the most enduring Batman stories ever, “The Killing Joke,” which Bolland drew and Alan Moore wrote.
Sinclair Lewis and George Orwell both wrote books that bear reading today. Of the two, Lewis’s book is more plausible given today’s political climate — plenty of Shad LaDue and Aras Dilley types running around — and therefore more frightening than Orwell’s famous dystopia.
